The best way to end a long summer is by celebrating Labor Day weekend with friends and family in North Georgia. A three-day weekend vacation in North Georgia serves as a great escape from crowded cities and the hot summer sun. From exploring the evergreen and taking a dip in the water to joining kayaking adventures with the whole family, there is an activity for everyone.

Tallulah Gorge State Park

For athletic travelers, hiking the Gorge at Tallulah State Park is a perfect way to spend Labor Day in North Georgia. Although the hike is ranger-led, it is of high difficulty. It is suggested that hikers prepare accordingly with extra snacks and water, and their best walking shoes. During the hike, you will trek down 535 steps, across a river, and up a few boulders until reaching Sliding Rock. Visitors can order a picnic lunch to-go from Beechwood Inn to bring with them for lunch with a view.

Due to each hike being ranger-led reservations will need to be set ahead of time. The rangers ask that no children under the age of 10 join the hike for safety reasons. For Labor Day weekend the park will be open from 10 am to 3 pm Saturday and Sunday.
